안녕하세요, 김광일입니다.

Background

I didn't start in tech. I was a project manager in the environmental and engineering sector, building websites and side projects in the evenings. A couple of those sold, and eventually I took the hint. I moved into product in 2017 and haven't looked back.

Interests

Side projects are my version of a hobby. Plenty have flopped (there's an archive), and two got acquired: fiilo, a 3D-printed planter brand I ran from my flat, and NoCode, a directory that sold twice.

Right now I'm into:

This site is the latest proof: four days, over a billion tokens. Outside of that, I'm into personal finance, angel investing and software design.

Current Role

I'm a Senior Product Manager at Skyscanner, working remotely from Scotland. On the side I run free office hours for founders who want to test an idea before they build it (108 so far), write a monthly newsletter and tinker with side projects.

Before Skyscanner I was a Senior Product Manager at two no-code startups: Softr (first product hire) and Stacker (YC-backed). Before that, I was Lead Product Manager at Founder + Lightning, a London startup studio, taking founders from idea to MVP and helping them raise $9m+ along the way. I stayed on as their venture scout until March 2025.
